Bringing together
film and nonprofit directors
to deepen the impact of both

A nine-month, non-residential fellowship helping directors develop exciting, fundable projects centered on social impact

OVERARCHING GOALS

What if directors could think deeply, early in their projects, about:

What’s most important to them?

The specific people the project hopes to reach, and what will the project help them accomplish?

Whose support would be most energizing?

What if we could help directors develop projects that incorporated:

Specific research about the impact they want to make

A deep understanding of, and connection with, the project’s audience

Healthy priorities for themselves and their teams

Problems

Feeling stuck, struggling to say no

Wondering if people will be interested; will this even work?

Spending time chasing unlikely grants or funders

Getting burned out by an overwhelming to-do list

Potential

Gaining clarity and conviction, even for difficult decisions

Deeply understanding and connecting with your audience

Building a supportive network of aligned funders and collaborators

Taking care of yourself and tapping into what energizes you

Cohort Schedule

Nominations for the next cohort will open June 2025.

  • Our film and nonprofit advisors can nominate potential fellows.

  • We conduct one-on-one informational sessions with each nominee to explain the fellowship and answer questions. If the fellowship seems like a good fit, candidates are invited to fill out a (brief!) application.

  • After candidates complete the application, we will schedule interviews with each candidate to discuss their goals and project. We will confirm that candidates understand (and are excited about!) the commitment. We will narrow the applicant list and conduct a second, maybe third, round of interviews.

  • New fellows will each attend a week-long, in-person deep dive with us. We'll talk in detail about goals, impact, priorities, and start to build a detailed plan for the next eight months.

  • A typical month will include:

    • 20 hrs of audience-informed project work

    • 14 hrs - building connections

    • 6 hrs of cohort time

About half of the work will be done in person with us, and about half will be done independently (with support)
